Metastock - favorites.dta

Hi Matthew,

I used to copy back and forth this file between my thumb drive and c:\program files\equis\metastock\ without problem.

One day EOD Metastock crashed (not able to open) and needed to be reinstalled.   To uninstall, I have used "regedit" to completely remove the program after trying without success the "Control Panel>Add/Remove>then CD installation".

After the reinstallation, Metastock cannot recognise the favorites.dta that I copied over.  In File>Open>Favourites dialogue box, it shows blank contents and not the folders that I copied over.

After exiting from Metastock and checking in MS File Manager, I can see the favorites.dta that I copied over is replaced or saved over automatically by Metastock with blank contents in this case.

Any suggestion to get over this?

將舊 Favorites.dta 抄進 C:\program files\equis\metastock\ 時,

一定要 關閉了 MetaStock ~

於於開啟狀態 Copy , 會無效空白一片 ~

Thanks Matthew.  I think I have tried both with and without Metastock closed.

I have rebuilt the file manually

Metastock should provide an easier way to creat and maintain favorite.dta.  This file is very prone to data corruption and a backup is almost a must.
